TECHNOLOGY shares continued to struggle on Wall Street but the broad market rose as interest rates fell after a key report revealed a sharp rise in new jobs but little sign of inflationary wage increases.

Advancing issues outnumbered decliners by nearly two-to-one on the New York Stock Exchange, with 1,660 up, 888 down and 808 unchanged. NYSE volume totalled 505.79 million shares, against 522.48 million in the previous session.
The Standard and Poor's 500- stock list rose 6.41 to 804.97, and the NYSE's composite index rose 3.59 to 423.83.
