BLUE-chip stocks rose yesterday snapping a three session losing streak that followed Federal Reserve chairman Mr Alan Green span's remarks last Wednesday about high stock prices and possibly higher interest rates.
The Dow Jones industrial average jumped 41.18 points after losing more than 160 points the last three sessions.
In the broader market, advancing issues led declines 1,287 to 1,211 on moderate volume of 432.6 million shares on the New York Stock Exchange.
The Nasdaq composite index rose 2.18 points 1,311.18. Standard & Poor's composite index arose 4.49 points to 795.31. The American Stock Exchange index edged up 0.58 to 594.82. The NYSE composite index rose 1.83 to 417.34. The average share was up 19 cents. The Wilshire Associates Equity Index the market value of NYSE, American and Nasdaq issues was 7591.522, up 32.105.
