The media company owned by veteran soccer pundit John Giles recorded accumulated profits of more than €500,000 last year and has cash reserves of over €550,000, according to its latest accounts.

The Republic of Ireland legend is a director of Quoteford Limited, along with his son, Christopher (42) and his daughter, Catherine (48). Giles is the sole shareholder of the company.

Accounts just filed to the Companies Office reveal that the firm increased its accumulated profits by €75,000 to €540,994 during 2014, and saw its cash pile rise by €73,547 to €550,438 in the same period.

Giles (75) is part of the popular RTE punditry panel that includes other former Ireland internationals Eamon Dunphy and Liam Brady. He also works as a soccer analyst on Newstalk.

Leeds legend

The Leeds United legend was capped 59 times for Ireland during an international career that spanned 20 years. He also managed the national team between 1973 and 1980.

His illustrious playing career saw him win two league medals with Leeds in the 1960s and 70s, as well as FA cup medals with both Leeds and Manchester United. He finished his playing career at home with Shamrock Rovers in 1983.

Quoteford Limited began trading in 2011 and reported a profit of €122,197 in its first year. Accumulated profits increased by €206,270 to €328,367 the following year, coinciding with Ireland’s participation at Euro 2012.

In its accounts to 31st December, 2014, the amount due to creditors of the company fell by €4,706 to €22,562, while debtors owed a total of €13,218. It had net current assets of €563,656.
