Cash-strapped RTÉ has come under criticism in the past for paying out lucrative wages to those working for the organisation. Fear not, though, because it appears that, finally, change is afoot.

The broadcaster may have recently welcomed back presenter Ray D’Arcy to the fold with a €500,000 annual salary, but it has now taken to JobBridge to recruit new talent.

The State broadcaster is looking to hire a digital editor under the controversial internship scheme, which pays an allowance of €50 a week in addition to an individual’s social welfare payment.

The winning candidate will gain practical experience in editing television programmes and should emerge from the internship with plenty of valuable skills. If they're lucky, they'll get to rub shoulders with the likes of Ryan Tubridy (current salary €495,000) in the RTÉ canteen. Whether the celebs will spot for lunch remains to be seen.
