E-Region, a branding initiative in the Shannon region to co-ordinate all Information Society activities, was launched this week by the Minister for Science, Technology and Commerce, Mr Noel Treacy.

The initiative will co-ordinate and evaluate the implementation of an action plan developed by the Shannon Regional Information Society Partnership Project to ensure socio-economic benefits are optimised in six key areas: awareness; learning; infrastructure; enterprise; community; and the public services.
