The expansion of Denis O'Brien's global online recruitment empire continues apace.

A search engine called Jumptojobs.co.uk recently went live in the UK, adding to his stable of online recruitment businesses that operate across 10 countries. There are about 4,300 websites advertising jobs in Britain and 500 for the London area alone. These include O'Brien's Welshjobs.com, Scottishjobs.com, NorthEnglandjobs.com and NIjobs.com.

His new website aims to streamline the process for job-hunters and to become the default option for online job-seekers in Britain and Northern Ireland. About 405,000 jobs are already available through Jumptojobs. The website earns 11p (16 cent) for every click on a job advertisement.

O'Brien's online recruitment interests are managed by a company called Saongroup.com. Its operations extend to China and the Caribbean and also include Irishjobs.ie. O'Brien owns about 75 per cent of the business with long-time business associate Leslie Buckley holding the balance.

The company earned revenues of €16 million in 2006 and chief executive Ken Fitzpatrick said sales in the current year were 70 per cent ahead of this time last year.

Having recently launched in Dubai, Fitzpatrick said further expansion was on the cards. "We're looking at the various emerging economies where internet penetration is growing quickly," he said.
