Packard Bell has announced it will offer upgrades to Microsoft Windows 98 on any of its personal computers purchased from June until the end of September 1998. This move is intended to protect the sales of computer stocks where Windows 95 has been pre-installed. The upgrade will not be available until Microsoft releases the new operating system scheduled for June 25th and Packard Bell will not sell PCs featuring Windows 98 until after the current stocks run out. PC owners are being invited to return vouchers for receipt of the upgrade after Windows 98 is launched. But they will have to pay £7.99 postage and packaging.
