Irish Continental Group has announced two senior management appointments to its container division. Mr Liam Lacey has been appointed to the newly created position of managing director. He was previously general manager responsible for Irish Ferries' Dublin-Holyhead service. Mr Paul Sullivan has been promoted to financial director. He previously held the position of group treasurer.
Ms Kathryn MacDonnell has taken up the position of marketing director with Braxtel Communications. Based in Braxtel's headquarters in Dublin, Ms MacDonnell will be responsible for Braxtel's marketing operations in selected areas of the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
Dublin's Herbert Park Hotel has named two new appointments to its board. They are Mr Ewan Plenderleith, general manager, and Mr Killian Bo- land, financial controller.
Ms Jennifer Gilna has joined the National Safety Council as sponsorship & promotions executive. Ms Gilna, who joins from Marketing Project Management, will manage the task of securing partners and sponsors for projects, new advertising and promotional campaigns.
Eontec, which provides multi-channel banking software, has appointed Mr Rakesh Jain to its board. Mr Jain will act as consultant to the board, tackling organisational planning and the implementation of new management procedures for Eontec's growth plans for 2001. He has more than 20 years' experience in the software industry.
Ms Helen Murphy has taken up the position of general manager at Mark Mitchell Sales and Marketing. Ms Murphy, who held the position of senior consultant within the organisation for the past two years, will be responsible for the strategic growth of the business in executive sales, marketing and management recruitment.
Accenture, formerly known as Andersen Consulting, has strengthened its management team in Ireland with the appointment of five new partners. The newly-appointed partners are Mr Alastair Blair and Mr Ken Byrne, specialising in financial services; Ms Marian Corcoran and Mr Donagh Healy, who will have responsibility in the communications and high-technology area; and Mr Ian Slattery, specialising in government.
The IRFU has appointed Mr Padraig Power as promotions and marketing manager. Mr Power has previously worked as promotions manager for Independent News & Media, and as a senior account director with Renaissance Marketing Group and JWT Communications.
Irish technology training and consulting group SureSkills .Com has made two new appointments. Mr John Malone has been appointed corporate account manager, while Mr Jerry Kiely has taken over as development services manager. CityJet Handling has named Mr Peter Ribeiro as its general manager. The appointment follows the announcement of the acquisition of a majority stake in CityJet Handling by the French business services company, CRIT Group.
Mr Amory Schwartz has been appointed vice-president of strategic business at Parthus Technologies. Mr Schwartz will be responsible for developing strategic relationships and alliances with complementary organisations, within the company's mergers and acquisitions organisation. Prior to joining Parthus, Mr Schwartz was cofounder and head of business affairs at the Digital Broadcasting Company, a start-up digital television company in London.
Ms Nicola Mortimer has taken up the post of retail sales director at WorldCom Ireland, with responsibility for the corporate and SME sectors.
