Mr Henry Murdoch has been appointed to the council of the City & Guilds of London Institute. The council is the governing body of City & Guilds, which is the leading UK awarding body for vocational qualifications. Mr Murdoch is a barrister and chartered engineer. He is chairman of the National Rehabilitation Board and a non-executive director of First Active. Prior to his retirement from FAS in 1999, Mr Murdoch was assistant director general with responsibility for the development of the new apprenticeship system.
Esat Business has named Mr Paul Roche as director of its software and systems integration division. The appointment follows the formation of a new software and systems integration unit in Esat Business, where Mr Roche will be responsible for developing the company's systems integration business, which consists of Kedington, Bridgecom and Viewpoint, and its e-business enterprises, including Labyrinth, Marketplace and CSP.
Ms Alanna Gallagher has taken up the role of commissioning editor with Esat Fusion, having previously held the role of commissioning editor with oceanfree.net. Esat Fusion encompasses the portals Ireland On-Line and oceanfree.net.
Three new members have been appointed to the board of Newbridge Cutlery. Mr Paul Keane, managing partner with solicitors Reddy Charlton & McKnight, has been appointed chairman. The other new board members are Ms Oonagh Doyle, the company's sales director, and Mr Brendan Waters, a business development and compliance service partner with chartered accountants Chapman Flood Mazars. Ms Una Ryder has been named as group marketing manager with Ryan Hotels. Ms Ryder joins Ryan Hotels from Aer Lingus, where she was international marketing manager.
Dublin-based Dolmen Insurance Brokers has made a number of changes to its team. Mr Shay Mulligan, who has been with AXA Insurance for the past 23 years, has joined Dolmen's commercial team. Dolmen has also appointed Ms Jean Jackson as manager of its personal lines department.
Three new appointments have been announced at Falcon/ JWT/First Choice Travel Shops. A founding director, Mr Bill Smith, who has been managing director since August 1997, has been appointed chief executive, while Mr Don Shearer, who has been sales director since 1996, has taken responsibility for sales and distribution. Mr Damien Mooney has been named as managing director. SAS, the e-intelligence software and services company, has strengthened its team with the appointment of Mr Karl Davis as senior sales executive at its Irish office.
