Mr Peter McAleer has joined the board of Kenmare Resources as a non-executive director. Mr McAleer has more than 35 years' international experience at board and senior management level in the natural resources sector. He holds an honours degree in commerce, is a barrister-at-law, and is also a director of Westmag Limited (Australia) and Kingsgate Consolidate NL (Australia).
Waterford Technologies has appointed Mr Barry Downes as director of software services. He is also the project director of the European Commission's Flexwork project, a consortium of Europe's top companies disseminating flexible working best practices, based on information and communications technology, to the EU and accession countries.
Mr Tony Buckley has been hired as head of business development at Design Factory. Mr Buckley previously worked with the Glen Dimplex group, Nissan Ireland and the Irish Trade Board in Dublin and New York. He is a business graduate of DIT, with a Master's in international marketing from UCD.
Mr Frank Dold has been promoted to executive director of Canada Life's financial consultancy division, joining the company's senior management team. Mr Dold originally joined Canada Life in 1980. Since 1991, he has been regional manager for the financial consultancy division's southern region. He has been in charge of Canada Life's strategy team for the financial consultancy division for 2000/2001, which set out the division's five-year strategy.
The Tyrconnell Group has announced the appointment of Ms Niamh Hamill as managing director of Donegal Adventure Centre.
New Ireland Assurance has named Mr David Whelan as broker consultant for Cork city and suburbs. Mr Whelan will be based at New Ireland's offices in Cork.
Heneghan Public Relations has appointed Ms Rachel Watchorn as account director. Prior to joining Heneghan, Ms Watchorn worked with Murray Consultants as account director and PJ Carroll & Co as director of corporate affairs. Ms Watchorn has also worked with Nissan Ireland and the PARC group.
Ms Patricia Rickard-Clarke has been appointed by the Government as a full-time member of the Law Reform Commission. Ms Rickard-Clarke has been a commissioner with the Law Reform Commission since 1997 and is a partner in Irish law firm McCann Fitzgerald. She is also chairperson of the Law Society Taxation Committee. Mr Barry O'Sullivan has been promoted to general manager at Blooms Hotel in Dublin. Mr O'Sullivan, a graduate of Trinity College, has been working at Blooms for the past year as general manager of Club M nightclub.
Founder and former chief executive of Baltimore Technologies Mr Fran Rooney has joined the board of Epionet, the Dublin-based Web services development and deployment systems company. Mr Rooney will be responsible for helping to develop Epionet's international strategy.
Fiat Auto Ireland has appointed Mr Michael Howe as commercial director. Mr Howe has worked in the motor industry since 1978, when he joined Toyota Ireland. At Toyota, he worked as marketing manager and sales manager, and, most recently, as product and market planning director.
