An Bord Pleanala should be required to determine cases involving the development of public infrastructure or any development involving the creation of more than 30 jobs, within 18 weeks, with a maximum deferral period of nine weeks.

The time limits were suggested yesterday by Irish Business and Employers' Confederation (IBEC) as it welcomed the overall thrust of the 1999 Planning and Development Bill.
