Executive directors of Irish Continental Group received average remuneration of over £221,000 each last year, compared to an average of £159,600 the previous year, according to the annual report. Last year, ICG had an average of 3.6 directors when account is taken of board departures during the year, compared with five directors during 1996. The main reason for the sharp rise in pay was an increase in performance-related pay from £272,000 (an average of £54,400 per director) to £383,000 (an average of £106,000 per director).
