A Donegal licensed premises has won the 1999 All Ireland Seafood Pub of the Year award. Mr Conor Britton, owner of the Smuggler's Creek Inn pub in Rossnowlagh, Co Donegal, received his prize from Bord Iascaigh Mhara in Dublin yesterday and heard praise for his efforts to offer dishes which reflected a growing interest in fish. The other three finalists in the competition were Aherne's of Youghal, Co Cork, Blair's Cove Inn in Blarney, Co Cork, and Pier 36 in Donaghadee, Co Down. More than two-thirds of some 10,000 pubs in the State now serve food, and are ideally positioned to promote seafood.
