The latest study of business preparedness for electronic commerce has concluded British businesses are underestimating its impact. Despite 94 per cent of company directors from the Top 1,000 companies believing that electronic commerce is inevitable, only 13 per cent have set up an information technology infrastructure to handle opportunities for globalisation, and just 2 per cent have made demands on their IT departments to use the Internet for business. The study was commissioned by EMC Corporation, the enterprise data storage specialists.
