Clerys win fashion industry's Oscars at Drapers Awards

Clerys has been awarded a fashion industry "Oscar" at the Drapers Awards for best independent department store in Britain and Ireland.

The Dublin department store group's chief executive PJ Timmons estimates that it will achieve turnover of €73 million this year, up from about €68 million last year.

Clerys said its flagship O'Connell Street store had benefited from a 25 per cent increase in pedestrian traffic this year following the completion of the O'Connell Street refurbishment programme.

Clerys was back in black last year with a pretax profit of €788,025 following the €22 million refurbishment of the O'Connell Street store. Pictured are Mr Timmins and general manager, sales, Liza Jones. It was the only Irish retailer to win at this year's awards.
