Technology company Sun Microsystems, which employs 225 people in Ireland, has reported record results for the second quarter of 1999, with revenues of $3.55 billion (€3.53 billion), up 27 per cent on the same period in 1998.
Net income increased by 30 per cent to $353 million (£271 million) and second-quarter earnings per share were 21 US cents, up 24 per cent on the same period last year.
Sun's operations in Ireland mirrored this success, with revenue growth for the second quarter to the end of December more than double that in the corresponding period the previous year. Sun recently opened the second phase of its European Software Centre in Dublin with the creation of 100 new software jobs.
