Data protection commissioner Billy Hawkes will take part in the next Digital Rights Forum, which will deal with online privacy.

Concerns were raised recently over access to users’ private contacts by mobile applications and a growing trend of putting more personal information online through social networks.

The debate will examine data protection and online privacy in the context of these risks.

The free event, which takes place tomorrow evening in the Science Gallery, will also feature contributions from security expert Paul Dwyer and co-founder of Boards.ieTom Murphy.
