US ONLINE storage company Dropbox last night claimed U2 singer Bono and the band’s lead guitarist The Edge had invested in the company.
Dropbox, a popular service for sharing files over the web, raised $250 million (€188 million) from a consortium of venture capital firms and private investors last October. The company did not say if the U2 front man and guitarist invested at that time.
Bono has made a number of high-profile technology investments through his involvement with the venture capital fund Elevation Partners. It’s most successful investment to date has been the purchase of a stake in social network Facebook for $120 million. This latest investment is reported to be in an individual capacity.
