Neostitch iPhone 4 case, €28

Do-it-yourself iPhone cases could be the next big thing. Instead of being forced to accept the same dull designs as everyone else, you can grab a needle and thread and customise this silicon cover.

The covers come in different colours – black, blue, white, pink, green and orange – and have a cross-stitch grid that allows you to stitch to your heart’s content. Perhaps you want to immortalise your favourite cartoon character. Or just stitch your name into it.

Three colours of thread are included, and the only limitation is your imagination . . . and maybe your cross-stitch skills. We suggest practising first.

Sony DSC-J10, €199

One thing about digital cameras is that, eventually, you have to take the photos off the memory card. But how many times have you mislaid the USB cable to do it?

Sony’s DSC-J10 solves this problem. Like the Bloggie and Flip cameras before it, this digital camera builds the USB connection into the camera itself.

The compact camera has a massive 16.1 megapixel resolution, and comes with some nice features such as the Sweep Panorama capability.

One possible limitation is that the memory is internal, so you can’t change the memory card. But with a 4GB capacity, chances are you won’t run out of space any time soon.

Samsung Smart TV D8000, from €1,749

With the Samsung D8000 Smart TV, bigger is definitely better. The LED TV may be thin but, with a screen size ranging from 42in to 60in, it feels like having your own cinema right there in your living room. The screen quality is impressive, and it’s 3D ready too.

One of the best things about this HD-ready TV is that you can connect to video sources online – YouTube, for example – and watch clips directly on your TV. You can also keep track of your social media, including Facebook and Twitter, and download an app for your Android or iPhone handset to turn your phone into a remote control.
