With reference to the article in last Friday's editions on residential phone charges, Interoute/Spirit Telecom has said that neither they nor the other licensed operators in the market require a change in telephone numbers to avail of their residential services.

According to the Office of the Director of Telecommunications Regulation, a number change would only be necessary if the alternative service providers were running their own phone lines into people's homes. This is understood not to be happening in the market at present.
