In the field of finance, DHL has developed several successful innovations which have saved the company time and money.

The asset register, for example, was developed by the finance team to catalogue all the company's expensive fixed assets in its offices all around the country.

As with all countries in the company's global network, DHL Ireland is an autonomous business unit, employing 300 staff in Dublin, Cork, Shannon, Waterford, Athlone and Donegal.

WBT Systems

WBT Systems develops and markets software which facilitates the delivery of education and training over the Worldwide Web.

In other words, the system builds upon the markets familiar to computer-literate students and delivers on-line education via the Internet. Put at its simplest, it is like distance learning via the Internet.

The company anticipates that instructors will make increasing use of the Internet through the vast and continually growing number of networked computers that can be accessed by students both from their homes and colleges.

WBT Systems has offices in Westland Square, Dublin, and San Francisco, employing 12 people.

The product is developed on the open standards of the Worldwide Web at the server end and utilises a standard web browser at the client end, combining all the multimedia formats of the Web.

Expert Edge

Computer Systems

Expert Edge has acquired its competitive advantage by using what's known as AppBridge Express technology. The technology is now the focus of a R&D department within the company, which is funded by worldwide sales to the US, Britain, France, Germany and Italy, among others.

The systems it produces are continuing to develop and can be integrated with leading third party software development tools such as Visual Basic, PowerBuilder and Delphi.

This is an integral part of the overall client/server development strategy, which, according to the company, makes it highly versatile and commercially efficient.
