Some 191 new jobs are to be created in Limerick, the Tanaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Ms Harney, announced yesterday.
The jobs will be created by three companies with the support of IDA Ireland.
American Firm, QAD Incorporated is to establish a major research and development centre leading to 100 new jobs for software graduates. QAD produces manufacturing and distribution management software.
Component Inter Technologies (C.I.T.) Ireland Limited will create 46 new jobs as a result of a £2 million expansion at its Abbeyfeale facility. The expansion will add new products to the range of electronic components the company produces.
In a third project, 45 new jobs have been created as a result of a £2.3 million expansion of T.F.X. Medical of Annacotty, Co Limerick. The company manufactures products including catheters used in radiology and cardiology procedures.
The Tanaiste acknowledged the very significant contribution European structural funds made, not only towards stimulating industry to locate and develop in Ireland, but also to generating major employment opportunities.
