The latest edition of Sport Business recounts the rather anticlimactic tale of Pfizer's move into sports sponsorship in Malaysia.
The company had offered a year's supply of its impotence drug Viagra to the first two players to score a hole-in-one at a gold tournament in Putrajaya. But on mature reflection, it opted to withdraw the prize on the grounds that it might be misconstrued, and the organisers offered cash instead.
"We do not want it misunderstood that we are treating [erectile dysfunction] lightly," Pfizer Malaysia managing director, Mr Radzmi Rahmat told the Star newspaper.
