Ideo's vision of the future of the book
WATCH:If you're still unconvinced that tablet computers such as Apple's iPad will ultimately lead to the death of the printed book, watch this video. International design consultancy Ideo has created this slick video of three concepts of how digital books might evolve.
Nelson is an app that provides information on the sources, references and discussions happening around a particular title; Coupland provides a way to share reading lists with others in your organisation; while Alice shows how books could become interactive experiences, where the reader helps create their own non-linear narrative.

Michael Arrington's allegations about Silicon Valley
READ: Michael Arrington, the founder and editor of Silicon Valley bible Techcrunch, is nothing if not controversial. This week he tossed a hand grenade into the Silicon Valley investment community with an exposé of a secret meeting between the top angel investors in the region.
Although he doesn't name the participants, he says, as a group, they are responsible for "nearly 100 per cent of early stage start-up deals" and have been meeting to ensure they retain control of early stage deals in the tech mecca. Set to run and run.

The Government news service online
BOOKMARK: With relatively little fanfare, the Government news service in July launched a dedicated website with audio, video and text relating to events at Government Buildings on Merrion Street.
Although launched during the political dead days of the summer, this site promises to be essential for citizens, bloggers and journalists as the Dáil gets back to work.

To an entrepreneur with unusual inspiration
LISTEN: In tough economic times, entrepreneurs need to take their inspiration wherever they can find it. In New York, an enterprising young chef called Ronnie has borrowed the business model of local drug dealers and will turn up with a grilled cheese sandwich 15 minutes after you text him your location. In this clip from National Public Radio in the US, a reporter meets Ronnie on a street corner to sample his merchandise.
