Gardaí are searching for a suspect after a man was fatally stabbed in Finglas, Dublin on Sunday.
The victim, named locally as Mark Carroll (34), was attacked in a house in the Scribblestown area in the early hours of the morning. Gardaí believe Mr Carroll, a father of two young children, was visiting the house and became involved in an row which turned violent.
Gardaí have opened an investigation into the fatal attack but have yet to make any arrests. It is understood they have identified a suspect with a history of criminal offending and are working to track him down. The suspect is believed to have been known to Mr Carroll.
Gardaí and emergency services responded to a call just after 1am following reports of an attack in a house. On arrival they found Mr Carroll outside the house with serious injuries. He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being transported by ambulance to Connolly Hospital and then to Beaumont Hospital. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

The house remained sealed-off on Sunday evening pending an examination by the Garda Technical Bureau. Gardaí are expected to formally begin a murder inquiry. A senior investigating officer has already been appointed to manage the investigation and an incident room has been established at Finglas Garda station.
Gardaí have also appointed a family liaison officer to keep Mr Carroll’s family updated. Arrangements are being made for a postmortem.
Investigators are appealing for witnesses to come forward, particularly anyone who was in the Scribblestown area between midnight and 1am. “Additionally, individuals with video recordings, including motorists with dash cams, from the area within the time frame are asked to provide footage to investigating gardaí,” the Garda said in a statement.
