Mullen's of Laurel Park open this year's account with a smallish sale next Monday. Most lots are priced in the low, hundreds, but there are some good pieces, such as a Victorian, rosewood chiffonier at £1,200-£1,600, a Georgian mahogany bowfronted chest at £1,000-£1,200 and an imposingly large French kingwood breakfront side cabinet, which could sell for as much as £3,000.

There are a few oddities, too - you can buy an Indian tiger head, for £200-£300.
