REEL NEWS:Just when you thought you'd heard the final scraping at the bottom of the superhero barrel, along comes the announcement for a live-action reboot of Captain Planet.

The weedy eco-warrior who ruined Wednesday afternoon telly during the "caring 90s" will soon return in the imaginatively titled Captain Planet: The Movie.

"With the earthquakes, tornadoes, melting icebergs and all the other problems threatening the world right now, Earth really needs her greatest defender," writes producer Susan Montford in the scary press release.

She's right. Where is the Legion of Super-Pets when you need them?
