Edwardian mahogany cabinet fetches £6,000
Last Monday's auction held by Mullen's of Laurel Park in Dublin realised a total of £180,000, including premium. Among the approximately 750 lots, primarily from three sources, an Edwardian mahogany inlaid display cabinet was sold to a private buyer for £6,000, while a member of the antiques trade paid £4,000 for a set of 12 Georgian-style mahogany dining chairs.
A Victorian walnut side cabinet made £3,400 and an ebonised and pollard oak bookcase fetched £3,000. Other prices realised at this sale included: £2,600 for a walnut bureau bookcase; £2,000 for both a Georgian mahogany sideboard and a pair of Victorian gilt sofas; £1,900 for a continental walnut and parcel gilt occasional table; £1,700 for both a Victorian mahogany boardroom table and a mahogany corner cupboard, circa 1900; and £1,600 for a Victorian mahogany bookcase.
