Gothic oak sideboard is sold for £2,050

A fine Victorian Gothic oak sideboard sold for £2,050 and a Victorian mahogany bookcase went under the hammer for £1,400 at the Town & Country Fine Arts auction last Sunday in their Ormond Quay auction rooms. A set of George III dining chairs were sold for £2,800, a continental, carved 19th century oak mule chest reached £950 and a Victorian walnut armchair was sold for £840.

Pennefather still-life works popular sellers

The studio sale of watercolours by George Pennefather (1905-1967), held in the de Veres auction rooms last Tuesday brought in prices ranging between £180-£450. The flower and still-life pieces were the most popular, according to John de Vere White, who added that the landscapes may have generated more interest had they been of specific Irish views rather than general, unidentifiable landscapes.
