Michael Scott's production company, The Machine, has just confirmed that it has taken a six-month lease on the basement of the RHA Gallagher Gallery. The first show, Some- thing About Us by English playwright, Andrew Alty, will go up in August. Other plans for the year include a new opera by Scott himself based on W.B. Yeats's play, Purgatory. Next week he is bringing in singers and an orchestra of traditional musicians to workshop the piece, which is being written with Arts Council funding. The Council has also funded an up-to-date lighting rig for the space.
The Royal Shakespeare Company will visit the space with their version of Beckett's Krapp's Last Tape, performed by Edward Petherbridge, which has been acclaimed in London and New York.
Tickets for shows at the venue will be available through HMV in a couple of weeks, and a booking number, 01-6763643, will be open from August 1st.
