Yes, he’s the real winner of Tool Academy and, no, you wouldn’t want to use him as your Phone-a-Friend option on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. But there’s no denying that Liam Gallagher is one helluva of rock star frontman. Now that Oasis has been put out to pasture (for however long that might last), it’s up to Beady Eye to fight the good fight for generic, mouthy Beatles-influenced rock.

Let’s be fair here: while there’ll be no reinventing the wheel around Gallagher’s gaff, it’s difficult to deny the man a round of grudging applause when it comes to stealing from the greats. Ultimately, that’s what Beady Eye is: a variation on a damned good theme that is virtually impossible not to be seduced by.

You hate Liam Gallagher? Tough luck, gringo – you’ll be whistling his tunes until the all the farmyard animals come home.
