The new Learning and Information Resource Centre in Dundalk Institute of Technology was dedicated to Dr T.K. Whitaker yesterday. The Dr T.K. Whitaker Building was opened by the Taoiseach, Mr Ahern, and the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs, Mr Ahern.
Dr Whitaker, who attended the ceremony, spent his formative years in Drogheda, Co Louth. He was appointed Secretary to the Department of Finance in 1956 and led the change in economic policy in the period leading up to Ireland's accession into the European Community.
