Dublin's annual Guitar Week starts tomorrow evening with a recital by Jose Luis Ruiz del Puerto from Spain at the Pepper canister Church, writes Michael Dervan.

The festival will run until Sunday 14th, with concerts concentrated around the two weekends. Among the visiting performers are Johannes Tonio Kreusch (playing the complete Villa-Lobos Studies and the Ginastera Sonata at the Bank of Ireland Arts Centre on Saturday), the Trio de Guitares de Paris (St Ann's, Dawson Street, Thursday 11th), Portuguese composer/guitarist Joaquim D'Azurem (performing his own music at the Bank of Ireland Arts Centre at lunchtime on Friday 12th), the flamenco guitarist Victor Monge "Serranito" (National Gallery, Friday 12th), and Alan Grundy, who will play some forgotten music he's unearthed in the RIAM (Hugh Lane Gallery on Sunday 14th). Ring 01 668 202 for full details.

Lindsay Armstrong's annual Sunday afternoon Bach concerts at St Ann's have expanded to become a Bach Festival, with six concerts between Sunday next (William Butt and Gillian Smith playing sonatas for cello and harpsichord) and 21st March (Blanaid Murphy conducting the St John Passion).
