The Guidelines for Groundwater Protection Schemes were jointly published by the Geological Survey of Ireland (not the Institute of Geologists of Ireland as stated in yesterday's report headed, "50,000 wells may be contaminated"), which is part of the Department of Public Enterprise, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of the Environment and Local Government.

In yesterday's leading article headed "State Aids in the EU", Mr Mario Monti was described as the EU Competition Commissioner. He is in fact Internal Market Commissioner.
