The illustration of red grouse in the editions of January 8th was by Gordon D'Arcy and was taken from his book The Guide to the Birds of Ireland (Irish Wildlife Publications, 1981). We regret attribution was not made.

The headline on the report in last Saturday's editions of the Esat Telecom Young Scientist Exhibition stated erroneously that the overall winner had come from Drogheda. As both the text and photo-caption made clear, the winner was Thomas Gernon of Colaiste Ris in Dundalk. The error occurred during the sub-editing process.
