Ballindoolin House and Gardens, three miles from Edenderry, Co Offaly, on the R401, are a treat for a family day out. Take a guided tour around the house and get a feel of what it was like to live in Georgian times. The Summer Proms of the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland come to the National Concert Hall in Dublin tonight. Gearoid Grant will be conducting the under-18s orchestra with the Wind Quintet of Jeunesses Musicals World Orchestra, with musicians from Germany, South Africa and Slovenia. Arnotts, on Henry Street in Dublin, is hosting the annual exhibition of Dublin Camera Club. The show is the largest photographic event in the city, featuring more than 350 images taken by club members. You'll have to be quick, though, as the exhibition is drawing to a close: it ends tomorrow.
I'm bored!
See what it was like to be a miner in the 19th century by visiting the lead and silver mines at Glengowla, Co Galway. You can tour the marble chambers and caverns studded with lead and silver pyrite and see veins of calcite and quartz. Just off the N59, two miles west of Oughterard (01-552360)
