The woman who reputedly inspired John Lennon to write Lucy in the Sky with Diamondsdied last week at the age of 46.

Lucy O'Donnell was a classmate of Lennon's son Julian, who drew a picture of the girl and brought it home to show his father. The two ex-nursery schoolmates had reconnected recently, when Lennon heard that O'Donnell was suffering from the disease lupus.
