A sum of £6,000 was paid on Tuesday evening for an eight-piece Edwardian bedroom suite at Mullen's of Laurel Park. The sale's next best price of £5,000 was made by a mahogany breakfront bookcase (circa 1900), while a late Georgian mahogany partner's desk (circa 1835) sold for £4,400 and a Victorian walnut and marquetry card table (circa 1870) went for £200 less.
Other prices achieved in this sale included: £3,800 for a set of seven-plus-two Irish mahogany dining chairs; £3,600 for a Georgian mahogany bureau; £3,200 for a William IV-style mahogany telescopic dining table and also an oak refectory table with a set of eight ash windsor chairs; and £2,000 for a set of six Louis XVI-style gilt metal, three-light wall appliques.
