The Galway Film Fleadh has had some success with its innovative pitching award.

My Brothers, a recent winner, was rapidly made into a feature and, following its premiere at last year's event, will play at the upcoming Edinburgh International Film Festival. It's a simple idea. The applicants submit a 500-word story, which is then read by an industry panel. The best five are shortlisted and invited to present their pitches to a panel of judges. But hurry: the deadline for this year's competition is June 10th. Entry forms are available at galwayfilmfleadh.com.
