REEL NEWS:You can't keep old Lars von Trier down. As you may recall, following his ill-judged Nazi quips at the Cannes Film Festival, some observers reckoned that von Trier's career might be on the rocks. Then his film Melancholiawent on to secure the best reviews of his career. This week the picture topped the charts with eight nominations out of a possible nine at the impending European Film Awards.
Also doing well were the Dardenne brothers' The Kid with a Bike, Michel Hazanavicius's The Artistand – yes, it qualifies as this year – Tom Hooper's The King's Speech. The bash takes place in Berlin on December 2nd.
