They all say (and fear) that video-on-demand – films straight to your computer, that is – will be the future of distribution. With this in mind, Element Pictures, the Irish distributor and production company, took time at Cannes to announce its involvement in a new organisation called the European Federation of Independent Cinema VoD Platforms. The idea is to swell catalogues (particularly of independent films) and to pool resources to enable their digital dissemination.
