Remember all those films that were supposed to play at this year’s Cannes?
Among the missing we had Sofia Coppola’s
Somewhere
, starring Stephen Dorff; Terrence Malick’s
Tree of Life
, with Sean Penn and Brad Pitt; and Darren Aronofsky’s
Black Swan
, with Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman. Well, as expected, September’s Venice Film Festival is benefiting from delays in the completion of those releases.
Black Swan, a ballet drama, is to open the 67th running of the prestigious event. It closes with the premiere of Julie Taymor's version of Shakespeare's The Tempest, starring Helen Mirren, Russell Brand and Djimon Hounsou.
So, where are the Malick and the Coppola? Perhaps, the London Film Festival in October might prove to be the lucky event.
