Irish history books at Newman House
A combined book and antiques fair takes place tomorrow at Newman House, Dublin, from 11 a.m. Twelve of the 40 dealers attending will be exhibiting books and other printed material, much of it relating to Irish history, such as the Rev James Gordon's eye-witness account of the 1798 rising, published in 1803, and John Lindsay's A View of the Coinage of Ireland (1839). In the antiques section, both Irish and English silver will be a feature, including a pair of loving cups made by Matthew West of Dublin in 1778. There will also be jewellery, porcelain, textiles and architectural salvage.
