Victorian watercolours and porcelain on offer

The next Newman House antiques fair in Dublin takes place not tomorrow, as would usually be the case, but on Monday. A large number of dealers are expected to attend this event, with five of them specialising in stamps and items of postal history.

In the main antiques section, watercolours by Victorian artists will carry prices averaging from £60 to £500, while there will also be 19th century table linen, clocks, brass and mirrors. In addition, the fair is to offer porcelain by well-known manufacturers and toys from the 1920s to the 1940s.

Following the success of two previous events at the same venue, an antiques and collectables fair is to be held tomorrow in the Bridge Centre, Greystones, Co Wicklow, from 11 a.m. onwards. The large selection of items for sale by dealers from across the Republic will include gold and silver, linen and lace, jewellery, paintings and prints, pub memorabilia and small furniture.

Record number of dealers for national book fair

A record number of dealers will be attending next Monday's national book fair at the Masonic Hall on Dublin's Molesworth Street, which starts at 10 a.m. Schull Books from Ballydehob, Co Cork, specialists in military history and publications of Irish interest, will offer The Irish Historical Library by William, Lord Bishop of Derry, and published in Dublin in 1724.

Courtwood Books of Co Laois is to bring a number of first editions, including O'Harts Irish Pedigrees, published in Dublin in 1876, and Francis Stuart's Black List - Section H, published in London in 1971 and still retaining its original dust jacket. In addition, Courtwood's is selling a fourth edition of Ullyses, published by Shakespeare & Co in Paris in 1924.
