Clocks for sale at Bank Holiday fair
MORE than 60 dealers from throughout Ireland are expected to participate in a special Bank Holiday antiques fair on Monday at Dun Laoghaire's Royal Marine Hotel. The fair is due to feature furniture from the Georgian and Victorian periods including a selection of grandfather clocks dating between 1730 and 1850, together with Victorian jewellery, antique silver and porcelain, paintings and prints, rare books and a wide assortment of other collectors' items. The fair opens to the public at 11 a.m.
Rare fishing book to feature at fair
Close to 30 dealers are expected to participate in next Monday's book fair at the Masonic Hall in Dublin, where prints, maps, postcards and stamps will also be on offer. Among those in attendance will be JIRI Books of Co Antrim, bringing a copy of a 1903 limited edition of A Grimble's Salmon Rivers of Ireland and a 1791 copy of Grose's Antiquities of Ireland. Donegal bookseller Michael Herron will have a large collection of first editions on his stand, including work by Patrick Kavanagh, Flann O'Brien, John McGahern and Seamus Heaney.
