Determined to make a comeback after the disappointing feedback for Assassin's Creed: Unity, Ubisoft have revealed their latest project, Assassin's Creed: Syndicate. In line with footage leaked last December, the new game will take place in Victorian London - the year 1868. Our hero is Jacob Frye who, along with his twin sister Evie, plans to take control of the streets for the poor working people of London. It reflects a time before the welfare state replaced the practice of just stabbing everyone.
While fundamentally similar to previous games, there are a lot of interesting new elements, not least the new carriage racing, Grand Theft Horse-Drawn style missions. Rather than the beauty of Florence or the blandness of the new world, playing in dirty smoggy London makes an interesting shift in scenery. Even more exciting, this game will allow you to play as female character, something which the Assassins Creed team have shown a curious resistance to until now.
Will it be enough to redeem Ubisoft? We'll have to wait until October 23rd to find out.
