3 cert, PopCap Games, iPad ****
Colourful graphics combined with fiendishly enslaving gameplay – why, it has to be a PopCap release.
Peggle, already an icon of casual gaming, makes its iPad debut with crisp graphics and touch- screen gameplay. Fire a ball and bounce it off a peg to make it disappear. The aim is to try to vanquish as many pegs as possible with a limited number of shots. There are bonus pegs that allow extra shots, in-game diagrams to show where your ball will ricochet and so on. If you're thinking that it's a direct ancestor of the tennis simulator
Pong, one of the oldest commercial videogames in history, you're on the right track. And, like
Pongin its day,
Peggleis endlessly addictive. Although the iPad is much younger than
Peggleitself, the touch-screen suits the gameplay perfectly. For those who own one of Apple's tablets, commuting just got a lot more fun.
