The Dillon Garden: Val and Helen Dillons' oasis in the city is probably the best known of all - is open during September on Sundays 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and on week-days for groups of 10 upwards (Tel.: 01 497 1308).
Mount Usher Gardens: Open from March to October (0404 40205)
Corke Lodge: A designer's rather than a plantman's garden. Features include a "secret" garden and Ireland's largest Cork Tree. Open through September - call in advance. (01 4540209)
Knockmore: The garden of John and Rudel Ross has fine terraces and includes a Victorian dogs' cemetery, a sun dial and woodland walks above the Dargle glen.
