The tagline is “100 bands, 3 Days, 6 Venues, 1 Ticket”. While we can manage the ticket, the venues and the days, there ain’t a snowball’s chance in hell that we’ll manage the number of bands.

The amount of acts is the best thing about this longtime annual indie showcase for the best in up-and-coming Irish bands and musicians, but it’s a fine line between cherrypicking a personal selection and having to wade through acts that might not be worth the time or effort.

This notwithstanding, you’re spoiled for choice between the reasonably established (Windings, Brad Pitt Light Orchestra, We Should Be Dead, Grand Pocket Orchestra, HAL), new and newish kids on the block (Squarehead, Pearse McGloughlin, The Cast of Cheers, The Holy Roman Army, John, Shelley the Creatures), and those we haven’t yet come across (Shooting Ducks, Awake Young Soldiers, Trophy Boyfriend, Vickers Vimy).

As for cherrypicking a personal selection – well, let’s just say that if we manage to see the likes of Sweet Jane, Lost Brothers, Valerie Francis, Yeh Deadlies (above) and New Amusement, then we’ll be very happy indeed.

Can't see that? Catch this: The BanglesMon, Dublin
