Pat Keating from Dublin emailed to say that in Kielys of Donnybrook one recent Saturday he was charged 8.95 for a full Irish breakfast, including coffee. The following Saturday he was charged 11.15 for the same breakfast. When he protested he was told the coffee was 2.20 extra and he should have been charged for it the previous week. Keating felt this was unusual because coffee is normally part of a full breakfast. However Kielys tells PriceWatch it feels customers are getting a substantial enough breakfast without including hot drinks.
Another reader emailed after he was charged 18.36 for a self-service full Irish breakfast at the Dublin Airport Holiday Inn. He felt it was abusing its location to overcharge unsuspecting visitors. He may be right: the Holiday Inn on Pearse Street in Dublin charges €11.36.
On a more positive note, Myles Tierney of Dublin tells us that a fine full Irish breakfast, including coffee, can be had for just €5 at Cafe Sofia on Wexford Street. If you notice a significant price increase or discrepancy, let us know by e-mailing pricewatch@irish-times.ie
